Based in Hull, Vulcan has factory space of approx 15,000 square feet allowing fabrication of some of the leading architectural systems including Schuco, Sapafront, Technal, Comar, Synerjy, Shield and Legend. We can offer a diverse product range including a number of window suites of varying frame depth and thermal performance, thermal and non-thermal shopfronts and commercial doors, curtain wall systems in both modular and stick system formats, structural glazing including concealed opening lights, roof glazing and atriums, fire screens, acoustic performance glazing and fully automated door controls and window operating systems

Pre-Contract Specification & NBS
Vulcan can help with choice and specification of products suited to the design intent of the Architect and client requirements and budget.
We have cut and paste sections of the L10 and L20 NBS pages matching the majority of our products and these can be edited to suit the specific requirement of a project.

Heat Loss & Heat Gain Calculations
Basic heat loss ('U' value) calculations and heat gain calculations can be carried out to ensure the correct glass and framing is used with a building. The performance figures required from any individual product can vary dramatically depending on size, area & orientation. As well as stand alone calculations for screen and windows, we can also provide the performance figures for inclusion into whole building assessments carried out by an environmental engineer.

Bespoke Design Service & CAD Details
All projects are carefully designed for integration into the proposed building using either AutoCAD or FastCAD. In addition to preparation of working drawings for a specific project, we also have a extensive library of standard CAD blocks in all our systems that can be either emailed or downloaded from our website in order to assist Architects with initial building and interface design.

Sheet Metal Work
Having recently invested in new machinery and personnel, Vulacn Aluminium can now offer a range of sheet metal work products such as flashings, pressed metal cills, bespoke angles, pressed metal trays, panels and welded aluminium and steel cleats and brackets. Lengths are limited to 2.5m in a range of material thicknesses from 0.7mm to 6mm.

Value Engineering
On most projects, there are numerous ways to give the Client, Architect and Main Contractor the aesthetic appearance and performance standards required.
Value engineering goes through a process of evaluating the specified products and offering alternatives in order to lower costs whilst maintaining high quality, performance and appearance.
In many cases changes to the framing can optimise the size of framing section and provision for structural steel, fine tuning the glazing specification can impact the heat gain or heat loss of a building thus providing a possible review of heating and cooling plant allowing even further cost savings.
The value engineering process can be carried out at any stage during project design, but is best done as early as possible in order to maximize of specification changes that may impact on other design elements and trades.
The process can be time consuming and is normally only carried out in detail once we are given confirmation that an order will be placed for the works package either by Architect/ Client nomination, or through a partnering agreement process with the contractor.

Fabrication & Installation
All fabrication work is done to exacting standards using computerised cutting equipment and system specific punch tooling and jigs. Out fabricators are fully trained on each specific system either by attending the system suppliers workshops or by organisation of in-house training by production representatives from each system supplier we use. In addition to this all fabrication and product control staff have undertaken NVQ level 2 in performing production operations and factory health and safety.
Site personnel are all CSCS carded and where necessary have also attained PASMA and IPAF cards for fixed and mechanical access.

Solar Control Solutions
Using the RW Simon Brise Soleil solar shading product line Vulcan offer vertical, inclined and horizontal brise soleil. This can be fixed either to structure above and surrounding frames or directly onto our range of curtain wall products. Various alternatives for blade design, facia type, size and installation angle are available to suit the most demanding shading requirements.
