A Versatile Curtain Walling system offering an affordable approach to low and mid rise façade glazing to a multitude of building types and requirements
The Vulcan Curtain Walling System provides the perfect solution for the external cladding of any building capable of allowing in large amounts of natural light through large expanses of clear glass, creating a feeling of space and providing the perfect interface with the outside world whilst maintaining the safety, security and comfort levels of the buildings internal environment for the benefit of its occupants.
The system easily meets the thermal and air tightness requirement demanded by the current regulations and construction industry. With the incorporation of various options of glazing it can be designed to provide large areas of glass within a building envelope whilst maintaining a sensible level of solar heat gain. All installations are of bespoke design utilising the frame profiles available within the IK suit. Calculations are carried out on every project to ensure fixing methods, frame spans and deflection limits are carefully controlled, ensuring a safe and robust end product for the client.
The system offers both single and double glazed options and is based around a box and plate configuration for ease of fabrication, transportation and on site installation and has been used for domestic and commercial applications such as shops, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, office blocks and factory units. Framing is generally polyester powder coated and available in a variety of colours from the Ral colour range. This provides a durable and long lasting finish to the framing elements, demanding a minimum of maintenance in the future. All finishes meet or exceed the relevant prevailing UK and European quality standards.
The system incorporates a co-extruded pressure plate which forms a thermal barrier as well as external gasketry to speed up and simplify glazing. The system is extremely practical and versatile and may be complimented by many other products to be found within our range, including, windows, doors, panels, louvers, ventilators and sun shading etc.
All profiles are currently extruded in the UK. Aluminium profile is extruded from aluminium alloy 6063 complying with the recommendation of BS 1474: 1972.
Detailed within the this brochure are the relevant lxx and lyy figures for all appropriate framing sections. If you require any guidance relating to the suitability of any sections in a given application please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Gasket systems are thermoplastic elastomer compounds (TPR - Thermo plastic rubber) designed to meet the requirements of BS7412: 1991, for glazing gaskets (C|ass A) and weather-strips (Class B).
The pressure plate is manufactured between a mix of UV stabilised PVC for the solid section and pvc nitrile for the flexible elements (gaskets). All co-extrusions are manufactured to ISO9000:2000.
Framing systems are available in bar length in a variety of finishes including mill, anodised, and most commonly in polyester powder coated finishes. We work closely with all of our coating applicators to ensure that quality and service are constantly maintained. All finishes meet the relevant prevailing UK standards. A complete listing of available paint finishes is detailed further on.

The system is mechanically jointed either by means of screw fixing through screw port details within the section or through separate jointing extrusions. The fabrication manual provides detailed information relating to screw fix positions and recommended assembly methods
Independent weather testing has been undertaken through an UKAS accredited test house. A comprehensive test report is available upon request.
The need for sustainability of the earth's resources has gained much prominence over the last twenty years and will continue to do so as legislation driven by the EEC continues to support the wider global ‘green issues'. Approximately 70% of waste material from the building industry in the UK is recycled. Recycled aluminium uses only 5% of the energy needed for primary production and 75% of current lngot production is from re-melt and recycled resources. Unlike other materials aluminium maintains its original strength characteristics. It is also a plentiful resource comprising nearly 10% of the earths crust.
The products of hundreds of new companies reflect this new market demand. The focus in the 21st century is to offer designers and end product buyers products that ensure superior performance and quality standards, which are long lasting, functional and environmentally friendly and which exploit all the new technological solutions that make life simpler and safer in the home and at work. The actions and the choices that we make affect our planet and its resources. We are dependent upon natural resources for our development, growth and well-being. As a result of this our daily activities reflect the need for maintaining our environment. In conjunction with our suppliers we have therefore developed environmental management systems with continual developmental measures to ensure continuous sustainable improvement.
